Hat on top for Jenkins

In The Hat made the best of a massive step up in trip to spring a surprise for local trainer John Jenkins in the toteplayspot Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon. Having been unable to pose a threat on his previous start over two miles at Fakenham, the 16-1 chance surprised his trainer as he got the better of a battle with Prayerful. There was little to choose between the pair after jumping the final flight but Jodie Mogford got a good response from his mount in the final 200 yards to pull a length and a quarter clear with Albert House back in third.

Jenkins said: "That was unexpected. It was worse than a seller and it must have been the longer trip that made the difference. "He's a very free horse at home and I couldn't understand it when he failed to operate around a tight track like Fakenham."
